Richard Gere Hospitalized after Wife’s 40th Birthday Celebration – She Gives Update on His Health

• Richard Gere, 73, was hospitalized after celebrating his wife Alejandra Silva’s 40th birthday with their two children.

• Alejandra shared an update on her husband’s health. He previously promised her at least 20 years of being together.

The “Pretty Woman” star, Richard Gere, became a father at 70. The 73-year-old actor and his 40-year-old wife, Alejandra Silva, had their second child together in 2020. Their oldest, Alexander Gere, was born in 2019, and his baby sibling followed soon after. Richard and Alejandra also have children from previous marriages.

Richard was previously married to Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995, and he tied the knot with Carey Lowell in 2000. Carey and Richard had a son together named Homer Gere. Alejandra was previously married to Govind Friedland, and the couple welcomed their son, Albert Friedland, in 2012.

Although Richard became a father again late in life, Alejandra has revealed the actor is still in excellent physical condition. She opened up about her husband, saying he has more energy than her at times. She also mentioned that Richard had promised her more than a decade of time together. She remarked:

“[Richard] has promised me at least 20 good years! But I have to confess that he has much more energy than me, is much more active. It’s hard to keep up with him … He’s not human!”

Although Richard is as fit as a fiddle, Alejandra recently revealed that her husband contracted a case of pneumonia while the family was vacationing in Mexico. She mentioned in an Instagram post that the family has been feeling ill since before her 40th birthday. Unfortunately, Richard had to be hospitalized.

How Does Richard Gere Feel after Hospitalization?

It seems that sickness has been dogging Richard since before their trip. According to TMZ, the actor had a bad cough before the family went away. While on holiday, the actor’s symptoms intensified, and his family also became ill. Finally, the symptoms became so bad that he checked into a hospital.

Luckily the actor didn’t stay in the hospital for long. He was treated for pneumonia overnight and walked out of the hospital the following day. Apparently, the actor was given a strong course of antibiotics to help fight the disease and has rejoined his family. Alejandra even posted a snapshot of him walking with her and their son. She captioned it:

“I woke up this morning and I saw the news and all your kind and worry messages, he is recovering ❤️‍🩹 he is felling much better today! The worst has already pass! Thank you all for you sweet messages we really appreciate them!”

The family has gone back to vacationing after the health scare, and Richard seems to have joined them. In Alejandra’s Instagram post, she and her son are walking with Richard. The actor seems to be doing fine in the image, and he’s holding his son’s hand while wearing a mask.

Richard and Alejandra were first spotted together in 2015. Although the two have known each other for years, they only started dating after they reconnected. Richard and Alejandra were old family friends before they got together, but when they reconnected, both felt a strong attraction to each other.

Alejandra mentioned that she knew they were destined to be together the moment they saw each other again. She insisted that their “karmic energy” attracted them to each other, and it was futile to resist. Over the years, they’ve enriched each other’s lives significantly. They both commented that the relationship changed their lives.

Alejandra runs a non-profit aimed at eliminating homelessness in Spain and has put an extraordinary amount of effort into her work, going so far as sleeping on the streets to understand the lives of homeless people. However, she admitted that she felt aimless before meeting her husband. She mentioned:

“I was a little lost, without light, and knowing him gave meaning to my life. It was feeling that someone was reaching out and showing me my true path. It had to be that way in this lifetime.”

Richard has also commented on his marriage, saying it is the perfect bond. The actor mentioned that his life has changed for the better since he married Alejandra. He admitted that his life has been much calmer after he met his wife, and he noted:

“I have found the quiet and happy life that I have always sought.”

Richard and Alejandra have been happily married since 2018, and Alejandra has said her husband has luckily recovered from his pneumonia. The humanitarian has posted on her Instagram, “So grateful to have you in my life, extraordinary and special human being, you have [shaken] my life, making me see what is really important.”
