Rod Stewart was born Roderick David Stewart in London, England, on January 10, 1945. The songwriter started having hit songs in the late 1960s, and after his 1971 album, “Every Picture Tells a Story,” he became internationally famous.

The British musician was well-known for his work as a solo artist, but he first got noticed and garnered success by being a band member in several groups. In the mid-1960s, he worked with London’s Shotgun Express and Steampacket.

Then he worked with the Jeff Beck Group, which included Stone Ron Wood and Jeff Beck. In 1969, after releasing two albums, his collaboration with the band concluded, and after Beck fired Wood, the latter convinced Rod to join him in Faces.

The band was initially known as Small Faces before going with just Faces, and the members included Ian McLagan, Ronnie Lane, and Kenney Jones. The star loved the blues rock genre the group created because he was a fan of rhythm and blues.

In the early 1970s, the band was one of the famous British live performers. Their 1971 album, “A Nod’s as Good as a Wink…to a Blind Horse,” was well-regarded, but Rod didn’t want to be limited to being in a group forever and pursued a solo career while continuing to work with them.

While the singer might be well-known for his music, he also plays the role of parent to his many children. He had his children with different women, and some of the offspring have followed his footsteps career-wise.

Rod’s Eight Children Who’ve Delved into Different Careers

Rod has a big family comprising eight children: Sarah, Kimberly, Sean, Ruby, Renee, Liam, Alastair, and Aiden. The “Maggie May” singer welcomed his children over several decades.

He welcomed Sarah, his first child, in 1963 with his ex Susannah Boffey before they decided to place her for adoption. The couple went their separate ways not long after, and the “All for Love” musician moved on with Alana Stewart.

In 1979, the duo tied the knot and welcomed Rod’s second child, another daughter named Kimberly. His first son was born to him and Alana the following year, and they called him Sean Roderick.

Sadly, the singer’s second relationship didn’t last, and their marriage concluded in 1984. The Grammy Award-winning musician welcomed his fourth child, Ruby, in 1987 after he fell in love with Kelly Emberg.

He moved on to marry Rachel Hunter in 1990, and two years later, Renee Cecili was born. The “Reason to Believe” singer and Hunter had their second child, Liam McAlister, in 1994, before separating in 1999.

Before his marriage to Hunter was finalized in 2006, the star began dating his current wife, Penny Lancaster. Together they welcomed Alastair Wallace in 2005 and then got married in 2007, but in 2011, Rod expanded his family for the last time when Aiden Patrick was born.

In November 2021, the “You’re in My Heart” musician said he’d tried giving Alastair a sex talk because he was 15 then and dating girls. However, when Rod tried to tell him the dos and don’ts, the boy hilariously told him he had the internet and knew it all!

Kimberly, whose first name is Alana, became a fashion designer, a television personality, and a model! In August 2022, she wasn’t married but had one child, Delilah del Toro, with Benicio del Toro.

Sean followed in his father’s career footsteps by becoming a musician and a songwriter and once appeared in the “Sons of Hollywood” reality show. Ruby also became a singer and was part of two groups.

In 2012, after only two years of performing, Revoltaire disbanded, and Ruby joined The Sisterhood, a country music band she started with Alyssa Bonagura. They released an album in 2016 but separated in 2021, and Rod’s daughter went solo.

Renee graduated from the London Contemporary Dance School and was an aspiring model. With the Monarc Jewelry company, she’s designed a collection of necklaces, earrings, and rings.

Her Instagram account revealed she worked as a meditation and yoga teacher. Liam was an athlete who played ice hockey, having been a member and player for the Guildford Flames of the United Kingdom’s Elite Ice Hockey League.

However, he was now a professional player in New Zealand. Alastair was generally out of the spotlight except for rare outings with his parents, just like Aiden, but in July 2021, he was seen with Sean.

When Rod wasn’t playing his role as a father, he went out of his way to assist those in need. One of the kind gestures he undertook in 2022 was to help those who were less fortunate.

Rod’s Efforts to Help Ukrainian Refugees

Ukrainians Olena and Rostyslav Kurtiak and their children Taras, Kostya, Roman, Mariia, and Dymtro, aged 17 to two in 2022, left their country and crossed Europe’s border into the United Kingdom. The family was escaping the war in Ukraine.

With no money, a home, and unable to speak English, the family was terrified until help came through from an unlikely source – Rod! The rock musician funded their London life by finding them a house he furnished.

The star vowed to pay the bills and rent of the three-story townhouse in Berkshire for a year! He met them for the first time by visiting their new home, and they came down all dressed up in their national wear, with him adding:

“They made me a cup of tea and we had loads of biscuits and chocolates, although the baby kept nicking all of mine. It really was wonderful.”

The musician decided to do something after seeing the atrocities Ukrainian people went through in the country because of the war. Having been born after World War II, Rod knew the perils, and then his nephew, Warren, came up with an idea.

The star’s nephew suggested getting trucks and filling them with supplies. They got three of the vehicles, and a team drove them down to Ukraine at the border; there, they took 16 refugees to Berlin for safety.

Rod stayed behind while Warren, his brother Gavin, and six other volunteers braved the successful trip. However, the artist wished to do more, and that’s how he ended up helping the refugee family in London.

Before he [Rod Stewart] started his tour, he vowed to use his concerts to bring attention to the plight of the Ukrainian people.

The star also gave jobs to two other refugees on his Essex estate, while another got to work as a gardener. Rostyslav described the singer as a “great man” who’d saved his family from danger.

The refugee’s children were also going to school in London. Rostyslav said they hadn’t known Rod was their benefactor when they moved into the home and were thrilled when he visited.

He hoped to find a job once he’d settled and wished to learn English. Besides giving shelter and employment to the Ukrainian people, Rod also went out of his way to support them through his music.

Rod’s Support of the Ukrainian People at His Concerts

During Rod’s concert at the OVO Hydro, he paid tribute to Ukraine by showing images of the war-torn country on a screen while singing “Rhythm of My Heart.” He also wore the colors of the country’s flag in a blue shirt and yellow jacket.
