Roisin Waters Is a Singer – Facts about Sinead O’Connor’s Daughter

Roisin Waters is Sinead O’Connor’s daughter who leads a private life. Although not much is known about her, she takes after her mother’s singing talent and her father’s writing skills.

Singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor had four children, including one talented daughter, Roisin Waters, who also sings. Roisin undoubtedly inherited her mother’s musical talent and shared the stage with Sinead several times in the past.

While growing up, Roisin experienced challenges with family, including a custody battle between her parents, her half-brother’s death, and Sinead’s attempt at taking her life.

A Difficult Custody Battle over Roisin Waters

Brigidine Roisin Waters was born in March 1996 to Sinead and John Waters, an Irish Times columnist, and writer. Her parents had been separated since before she was born, but John frequently visited Roisin in her mother’s home where she lived. According to John, Roisin was “the best thing to have happened” to him.

In 1999, John accused Sinead of neglecting their young daughter and filed an official complaint to investigate the case. However, the singer vehemently denied his claim.

The accusation was, at that time, the latest among a string of arguments. Sinead and John had been in a custody battle for Roisin since her birth. In 2014, Sinead surrendered Roisin to her father’s custody after attempting to take her own life.

Roisin’s mother claimed she sacrificed her legal right to have custody of Roisin for her sanity despite its difficulties.

Roisin Has Performed with Her Mother

Roisin leads a relatively private life with no traces of social media accounts. However, she takes the spotlight whenever she sings with her mother during events.

In 2014, she joined Sinead on the main stage of the Electric Picnic festival to perform “Take Me to Church” and “The Wolf is Getting Married.”

In the same year, 17-year-old Roisin appeared on an Icelandic television show with her mother and John Grant. Grant sang the hit song “Greatest Mother [expletive]” with the mother and daughter surprising guests as backing vocalists.

While Roisin is following in her mother’s footsteps, she may also have a career as a writer. Roisin previously wrote an article for the Independent, making her columnist dad proud. John worked for the Irish Times from 1991 to 2014.

Roisin was also present at her grandfather Sean O’Connor’s book launch in Dublin, Ireland, in 2013, ensuring she supported her family’s milestones.

Shane was discovered lifeless after going missing for two days.

Roisin Waters Lost Her Half-Brother

Roisin’s mother rarely talks about her or posts photos of her daughter on social media. However, in 2015, Sinead shared photos of all her children in the wake of her son’s life-threatening condition. Although the singer did not share many details, she revealed her son had a severe medical condition since March 2015.

Five years later, Roisin tried to cheer her mom up and get her back in the dating zone by signing her up for First Dates. However, their happy times were soon struck by another tragedy.

In 2022, Roisin lost her half-brother, Shane O’Connor, age 17. Shane was discovered lifeless after going missing for two days. After his death, Sinead saw no point in living and wanted to follow her son. Eventually, she sought medical help for her mental health.

Sinead is one of the few entertainers who have contemplated taking their lives due to painful events. Another famous star who no longer wanted to live was Patty Duke. However, like Sinead, she sought medical help and became better.
