The founders of Joe Lycett‘s Got Your Back producer Rumpus Media are exiting the business after a decade.

Deadline understands that Emily Hudd and Iain Wimbush are in the early stages of plotting a new production outfit.

The duo launched Rumpus in 2013 and have since turned it into one of the UK’s most prolific unscripted producers. Rumpus has developed talent relationships with the likes of Lycett and Romesh Ranganathan that have spawned multiple hits including Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back, Late Night Lycett and The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan. Other credits include Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains and Mo Gilligan: Black, British and Funny.

Rumpus was backed by UK indie incubator Greenbird almost immediately after it was set up and Greenbird holds a 40% stake, according to its latest accounts. Following Hudd and Wimbush’s departure during the middle of next year, STV Creative Director of International Development Josephine Brassey will take temporary charge.

Hudd and Wimbush’s departures are not connected to STV’s recent $27.2M acquisition of Greenbird, Deadline understands, but the pair had been thinking of leaving for some time.

STV Studios MD David Mortimer said they have “created an iconic brand renowned for discovering new talent and creating original content.”

Hudd and Wimbush added: “We are very proud of the success we have achieved since forming Rumpus Media in 2013 and the brilliant team we have built.  We have decided after 10 fantastic years that we’re ready for a new, joint challenge and look forward to sharing more on that soon.

“We are grateful to Greenbird Media for all the support they have provided to establish a leading entertainment business and we look forward to working with Josephine Brassey over the forthcoming months as Josephine and the team at STV Studios develop the next chapter in the future of Rumpus Media.”
