Simon John Beckingham is a multi-talented writer, actor, and comedian. However, most would know him by Simon Pegg, his moniker after adopting his stepfather’s last name.

Simon is known for his roles in “Star Trek,” “Shaun of the Dead,” and “Hot Fuzz,” which all came out in the 2000s. Most recently, he starred in “The Boys,” “The Undeclared War,” and “Luck.” Behind his success is a wonderful woman, Maureen Pegg, who keeps him grounded.

Despite his successful career, Pegg remains humble and kind. He credits his wife, Maureen, for keeping him sane and bringing out the best in him.

Simon Pegg Has Been Happily Married since 2005: Get To Know His Wife, Maureen Pegg

Maureen works as a publicist in the music industry, and although she and Simon don’t have similar jobs, they share other things in common. The couple tied the knot in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2005, with Nick Frost as the best man at the wedding.

While they live in marital bliss, their relationship hasn’t always been easy. The actor previously opened up about his struggles with alcohol dependency and depression, which affected his daily life. Admittedly, his battles began at 18 and took a toll on him during his days filming “Mission: Impossible III.” He said:

“When I watch that film, I can see where I was then, which was fairly lost, and unhappy, and an alcoholic.”

It didn’t take long before Maureen noticed what had been happening to her husband. Although challenging, she stood by him and encouraged him to seek help, so he received treatment at a rehabilitation center.

Maureen undoubtedly loves and cares for her husband. This was seen in 2019 when she got emotional over the actor’s role. When Simon had to lose weight for a movie, Maureen cried to see him in a slimmed-down frame. The actor shared:

“I did have to get very, very skinny for a job I did this year, and my wife was in tears about that because I kind of got down to just skin and bone, so she wasn’t happy about that […]. She always grounds me.”

According to the doting dad, his daughter, Matilda, is the “single greatest thing that’s ever happened to [him] in [his] life.” Matilda sometimes appears on her father’s Instagram account, but he and Maureen generally choose to keep her from the spotlight.

“Our friendship has evolved. We’ve gone from being flatmates and roommates and drinking buddies to fathers and husbands,” Simon said. The two have great chemistry off-screen as they do before the cameras, especially when they starred in the Cornetto Trilogy. It is definitely a friendship that will last a lifetime.
