Hollywood’s leading lady, Demi Moore, gave up her thriving acting career to become a stay-at-home mom. However, she experienced some tough times during that period.

Actress Demi Moore endured multiple health issues, including a seizure after smoking synthetic cannabis and inhaling nitrous oxide.

Moore’s self-indulgence made her three children, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, shun her. In September 2019, the movie star told The New York Times that her life was in shambles:

“Part of my life was clearly unraveling. I had no career. No relationship.”

On top of that, Moore’s health began to decline, and simple tasks became overwhelming. At that period, she was experiencing autoimmune and digestive problems.

However, she held back on explaining what she was diagnosed with at the time and mainly said that something was wrong with her:

“Something was going on, including my organs slowly shutting down.”

During that period, Moore had split from her husband, actor Ashton Kutcher whom she started dating in 2003. She soon fell pregnant but suffered a miscarriage six months into the pregnancy.

The ordeal took its toll on Moore as she blamed herself for losing the baby and tried to numb her pain by drinking. She and Kutcher wed in 2005 and went through various fertility treatments to try for another baby.

However, her drinking habits worsened, and she became addicted to Vicodin. The New Mexico native later learned that Kutcher had been unfaithful. The couple separated in 2011 and finalized their divorce two years later in 2013.

The pair had a 15-year age difference. Moore was 40 years old, and Kutcher was 25. She penned in her book, “Inside Out” that she had already lived life while Kutcher’s was beginning to take shape:

“I was a 40-year-old who had a big life. And Ashton’s adult life was just beginning – I didn’t see all that because I was inside of it. I just felt like a 15-year-old girl hoping somebody liked me.”

Moore revealed that from the early stages of her relationship with the “Two and a Half Men” alum, he adored her kids and embraced being a stepdad. Kutcher did not make her feel like she was bringing “baggage” into their relationship.

Still, their happy years did not last long, according to Moore. She revealed in her memoir that Kutcher suggested that they should have threesomes which ultimately led to her drinking again. In addition, he cheated on her, and she found out about it in the press:

“Because we had brought a third party into our relationship, Ashton said, that blurred the lines and, to some extent, justified what he had done.”

Before marrying the Iowa native, Moore was married to actor Bruce Willis with whom she shares daughters Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah. The former couple tied the knot in 1987 but divorced in 2000.

Following her divorce from Willis, the “G.I. Jane” star’s mother died from cancer. Subsequently, she put her acting career on the back burner to focus on raising her kids.

Moore only worked occasionally and made appearances in “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” while producing movies like “Austin Powers.”

Seeing that she was in her forties then, the mother of three wondered whether her time in Hollywood had come to a close:

“They’d say they don’t really know what to do with you, where to place you. I was like, ‘Oh, well, is that supposed to flatter me?'”

Life on a Farm

With her career hanging in the balance, Moore left it all behind and moved to Hailey, Idaho, to live on a farm. She quit her job despite the huge success and millions of dollars in earnings.

The “Ghost” star purchased the property in 2000 following her divorce from Willis. In November 2020, Moore posted snippets of her life on a farm showing her kitchen with wooden floors and cabinets with a quartz counter.

The living area consisted of a sizeable maroon sofa, a coffee table, and a trunk. The abode is a country-style house with wood features all around the home and small chairs attached to the wall in the dining area, including a windmill off the side.

Moore also gave fans a glimpse inside her garden, which spans acres of land with enormous lush green trees and grass. The garden is where she grows her food as she often cooks and drives a lawn mower. In June 2021, the “Striptease” star posted a video of her atop a red lawn mower at her house.

She once posed outdoors, and a goat could be spotted behind her, meaning she has animals on the property. The doting mom shares the home with her daughters.

Moore is reportedly worth $200 million. Following her divorce from the father of her children, she received $90 million from him.

Despite her legal separation from Willis, they remain cordial for their kids’ sake and share a close bond. The “Die Hard” star is married to model Emma Heming with whom he shares two daughters, Evelyn and Mabel.

Willis’ blended family showed a strong unit when they came together to support him after being forced to retire from acting because of his aphasia diagnosis – which affects his cognitive abilities. They each wrote on social media that they would face Willi’s health issue “as a strong family unit.”

Although they have been divorced for two decades, Willis and Moore still maintain a close relationship which has raised a few eyebrows.

The pair still spend time together and even quarantined under one roof during lockdown while Heming, who he wed in 2009, remained in LA with their younger kids.
