Defying the odds of A-list couples! Since meeting over a decade ago, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have been going strong. But that doesn’t mean they haven’t had their rough patches over the years. Around the same time they found out they were expecting their second son — who they welcomed in July 2020 — they also weathered a major PDA scandal.

In November 2019, the “SexyBack” singer was spotted holding hands with his costar Alisha Wainwright. Although Justin insisted his display of affection was a drunken mistake, he wanted to set the record straight and get back in Jessica’s good graces. In early December, he issued a public apology on social media.

“I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people I love,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgment — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my costar.”

The singer continued, “I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focusing on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that.”

Although fans cheered on the star for owning up to his mistake, sources said his apology didn’t necessarily come from his own volition. “He says he was going to do it anyway, but Jessica pushed Justin to make a public statement,” an insider told In Touch at the time. “It was necessary for his image, but more importantly, another step in saving his marriage. He still has a lot of work ahead of him.”

Despite Justin’s public plea to save his marriage, the couple was said to be having problems long before the PDA scandal. Since then, they appeared to have been working on the marriage behind the scenes — and they recently made son Silas a big brother when they welcomed baby Phineas. Justin and Jessica kept their pregnancy a secret, but In Touch confirmed their baby news in July 2020. “They told very few people. This has really brought them closer together again,” an insider said.

In 2022, the pair starred in the same television show and have been spotted out together more frequently. Jessica played Candy Montgomery in the Hulu series Candy that is based off of a 1980 killing. The “Cry Me a River” singer played a smaller yet significant role as the investigating deputy.
