Franklyn gained fame on Barstool’s famous podcast series, which she started in 2018 with her then-co-host Alexandra Cooper. However, in 2020, the two hosts faced allegations of breaching their contract with Barstool Sports.

The two hosts reportedly sought to end their contract to pursue more financially rewarding opportunities, despite Barstool founder Dave Portnoy having offered them a deal that included a $500,000 guaranteed salary.

According to Portnoy, Cooper was willing to accept the deal, while Franklyn hesitated, causing a rift between the two friends. Portnoy had also claimed that the “Call Her Daddy” show was being “shopped” around by Franklyn’s then-boyfriend, Peter Nelson.

Nelson, a Harvard graduate with a degree in ancient Greek, was reportedly the executive vice president of HBO Sports. In 2019, Sports Business Journal named him to its prestigious 40 Under 40 list.

In the middle of 2019, Franklyn began mentioning a boyfriend on her podcast without saying his real name. It was unclear how they met, but they were spotted together in April of that year at a fundraising event in Brooklyn.

Nelson became known to listeners as “Suitman.” But when news of the scandal involving Franklyn and the podcast broke, listeners vented their frustration with the HBO executive through the trending hashtag “#CancelSuitman.”

Amid the scandal, Nelson reportedly left his job at HBO Sports in August 2020. On the other hand, it has been reported that Cooper and Franklyn have severed all communication.

In 2021, Franklyn updated fans on her return to New York City, where she looked for an apartment in SoHo, but her boyfriend suggested they move in together. She never shared that boyfriend’s identity.

Franklyn expressed on her podcast that she was uncertain about living with her boyfriend and preferred to live alone despite being in a serious relationship with him.
