BBC Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke has taken a stance when asked about the professional dancers making a step up to sit alongside him.
Anton, 57, was one of the first Strictly professionals when the BBC show launched in 2004. He stepped away in 2020 but his character and personality brought him back in an upgraded role in 2021.
He joined the judging panel sitting pretty alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas ever since. But with the possibility of Craig standing down at the end of the 2024 series – there will be a slot to fill.

However, Anton made it clear he does not want any of the other professional dancers following in his footsteps. When asked the question, he replied: “None of them.” Adding: “I’ll leave that for other people to decide.”
Karen Hauer has also expressed a desire to become a judge. The 41-year-old told the Radio Times: “Right now, I’m really happy with being a professional on Strictly, and to continue spreading that love of dance. As clichéd as it sounds, it can change your life, and some people still have no idea.
“But I’d love to be a judge on Strictly. I love to teach and I love to guide people. I think that’s my calling – that’s my next step.”
