Nigel Harman has broken his silence on his exit from Strictly Come Dancing in an emotional interview which left dance partner Katya Jones in tears.
The pair were due to dance the Charleston to Step in Time from Disney’s Mary Poppins during tonight’s Musical Week, but disaster struck just hours before the show which led to Nigel being rushed to A&E.
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman explained at the start of Saturday’s programme that there will be no public vote as normal this week due to Nigel’s exit. And after the first two celebrities had performed, Nigel spoke to Claudia during the live show.

Explaining what had led to his injury and ultimately his exit from the competition, Nigel said: “I was leaping off a rostrum and was about to be caught by some very handsome men – and as I flew I was Peter Pan and as I landed I was in A&E.
“So I’ve done something to my rib and it’s quite painful and I’m a little bit high on painkillers as well but I’m having a lovely time.”
Asked how he had found the experience, Nigel said: “I’ve loved it and I am loving it – it’s too soon to say loved. It hasn’t really sunk in. When I watched everyone come down the stairs I was like ‘this is real – I’m not part of this anymore’.
“That was quite sad. I’ve been avoiding Kat all day because that makes it really real as well.”

Katya added: “It’s quite hard to talk right now. But I have absolutely loved every moment of us creating magic on the dancefloor.
“I know the reasons you did this is for your daughter, for your parents and especially missing out on this number.. I know your parents would be very, very proud of you. And I hope you’ve got something out of this that you can treasure forever.”
The couple were then shown a montage of their best moments from the show which had them both in tears. And fans at home were just as emotional. @oliviarose18xx said: “Nigel and Katya are breaking my heart.”
@shannisrickman added: “Stop I wanna (sic) hug nigel and katya so bad!! I’m proud of them both they mean everything to me!! I’m sobbing at that…”.
