Swimmer missing at Sydney beach

Emergency crews will resume a search on Monday morning for a swimmer believed to have gone missing in waters off Bronte Beach.

Surf lifesavers, police, ambulance and air ambulance crews searched into the night for the man, who was swimming with a friend when he failed to return to the beach about 7.45pm on Sunday.

Surf Life Saving NSW city branch duty officer John Restuccia told Nine News crews scoured the rocks as far south as Bronte Bogey Hole, near the baths, before the search was suspended overnight.

The search would be resumed at first light at 6.30am on Monday, he said.

“There’s only one safety message that surf lifesaving has: it’s swim between the flags at all times, swim at a patrolled beach at all times,” Restuccia told Nine News.
