‘The Facts of Life’s Lisa Whelchel Enjoys Life as Doting Grandma of 3 after She Found Love at 56

After nine years of playing the character of Blair Warner alongside her costars on “The Facts of Life,” Lisa Whelchel began following an entirely new path away from the flashing lights of Hollywood.

Whelchel was 25 when “The Facts of Life” wrapped its final season, and instead of pursuing other acting roles, the actress developed her personal life. The same year the show ended, Welchel married a born-again pastor.

The pastor, Steve Cauble, and Whelchel led a full life together and welcomed three children during their union. Their children are Tucker, Haven, and Clancy, who are all now in their 30s. Whelchel homeschooled her children as she was a stay-at-home mom.

In 2001, Whelchel revealed that her father had suggested she marry Cauble. They lived happily for a while, but in 2012, their marriage ended, and Welchel was left alone and heartbroken.

Twenty-three years after the couple married and Whelchel became a minister, she ended her marriage to Cauble and said she waited until her last child had gone away to college before she did so. It was noted that Cauble did not contest the divorce.

The couple lived a notoriously private life, and only their good friends and family knew about their split initially. Sources close to Whelchel confirmed that she and Cauble had lived separate lives for months before their separation.

While the couple ended their marriage, they remained good friends. Their daughter even asked her mother to let her know when the divorce was finalized, as she couldn’t tell because her parents were so friendly with one another.

Whelchel has since spoken out about how she feels about marriage after her decades-long union ended. She mused:

“Of course, I still believe in marriage. I never thought divorce would happen to me. But Steve is still my best friend. We just couldn’t be married.”

Whelchel Found Love Again in Her 50s

Due to how privately Whelchel has chosen to live her life since stepping away from Hollywood in 1988, not much is known about her life. Yet it has been revealed through social media that she found love again in her 50s.

She began dating Pete Harris when she was 56. In 2019, he proposed to her, and she agreed to marry him. They have since lived a quiet but happy life together. She has often posted about their relationship on Instagram.

One post in 2018 showed the couple sitting together at a restaurant, smiling. Whelchel revealed that she was at her favorite restaurant and enjoying the evening with her favorite man beside her.

She posted again in 2019 to reveal that Pete had proposed to her, and she had said yes. The post was a series of photos from when Pete proposed and then the couple posing together after the proposal.

Another, more recent post was in August last year when she posted a series of photos, saying her husband had surprised her with a “dayte” and took her to some of her favorite places. She then said she hadn’t realized how much she needed the break.

Whelchel’s Life as a Grandma

While she has a happy marriage with Pete, Whelchel also has other sources of joy, mainly in her children and grandchildren. Whelchel once shared what she felt was most important to her and said that her children were. She shared:

“Just to know your children are solid, have good hearts, and have found spouses who are amazing people who love them — there is no greater joy.”

She said that when she leaves this earth, she will do smiling because she knows that her children are happy. Her children are also the reason that she has another reason to smile. They have given her grandchildren.

Whelchel often posts about her grandchildren on Instagram, showing how proud she is of them and all the love she has for them. In 2019, when her granddaughter, Eisley Virginia, was born, Whelchel posted the happy occasion.

The post contained a series of photos of the child’s first hours on Earth. The first photo showed a beaming Whelchel holding the tiny infant, while the next showed Eisley on her own and with her parents.

One of the photos revealed that the whole family had gathered in the hospital room to share the happy occasion. Each member crowded around the bed, where Eisley was held by her mother and smiled at the camera.

In the post’s caption, Whelchel said she was grateful Eisley had come into the world early because she had been so excited to meet her. She then said the baby was perfect and also had perfect parents.

Whelchel also revealed in that post that her grandchildren called her “CoCoMaMa.” She has since shared this name on Instagram many more times since her grandchildren were born.

The actress often posts pictures with her family on social media and talks about what a blessing it is to be able to spend quality time with them. She has said that being around her family is the most important thing to her.
