Elvis and Priscilla Presley had a whirlwind relationship that had many challenges, yet that didn’t stop them from falling in love and making the commitment to exchange vows in a small wedding ceremony held in Las Vegas in May of 1967.

“The beginning [of our marriage] was very difficult, but I knew what I was in for because I saw it at a very young age,” the New York native told the Daily Mail in March 2022. “I found out how vicious people could be. There were rumors I was pregnant, and that’s why he got married and I’m going, ‘Oh, my God, this is not gonna be good for me.’ That’s when I started not reading papers anymore or [magazines] in the grocery stores.”

In addition to their busy lifestyle, rumors of infidelity also began to swarm which prompted her to worry about leaving her famed husband alone. In an interview with People in September 2021, the “Touched by an Angel” alum shared that being married to the icon was tough as she “had to learn everything” to keep up with his hectic lifestyle and attention. “Women gravitated to him, so I would be nervous when he had to go places alone. I would even go with him to get his teeth cleaned! I always had an eye on him because everyone in the world was after him.” Although Priscilla saw the “Blue Suede Shoes” singer as a gentle soul, their public marriage eventually began to take a toll early on.
