Back in 2017, after Paris Jackson’s bold makeup at the VMAs got everyone in the beauty world talking, Jo Baker told Teen Vogue in an interview that Jackson’s unique eye pigmentation is due to a rare eye condition that impacts the color. Baker also noted that the condition does not impact the model’s sight. Baker didn’t name the condition in the interview, but a little research indicates that it could be Waardenburg syndrome. As a source explained to Insider, the condition impacts one in 40,000 people, and that it can also affect hair color, skin color, and hearing loss.

As of right now, it doesn’t look like Jackson has indicated any other symptoms of the syndrome other than her frosty blue gaze. It also doesn’t appear to be shared by either of her brothers so, for better or for worse, there’s no way the King of Pop’s only daughter can help but stand out from the crowd.
