Before getting married and welcoming a son, Nicki Minaj dated some famous rappers. The longest of Minaj’s relationships was with rapper Safaree Samuels, who began dating when they were both part of Hoodstars. They split in 2014 after 11 years together; as Samuels complained in an interview with Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club,” he broke it off after starting to feel he “was being treated like an employee, instead of like her man.”
In February 2015, Minaj began dating rapper Meek Mill, later that year confirming to Billboard, “We are really, really enjoying each other’s company.” However, in January 2017 she announced it was over. “To confirm, yes I am single,” she tweeted. A few months later, she confirmed rumors she was dating rapper Nas during a May 2017 appearance on “The Ellen Show.” By January 2018, however, a source told Us Weekly that the romance had “fizzled out,” due to their respective schedules keeping them apart. “They were never in the same place at the same time, so it was hard to move their relationship forward,” said the source.
Meanwhile, rapper Drake shot down persistent rumors that he and Minaj had once had a thing — albeit not for his lack of trying. “I’ve always really, actually, really had a crush on her, always really loved her, and she’s always just looked at me as, like, her little brother,” Drake lamented to MTV2’s “Sucker Free Countdown.”
