Tristan Thompson's Superhero 'Mommy' Dies at Home — Ex Khloé Was with Him as He Rushed to His Little Brothers

Tristan Thompson, NBA player and the father of Khloé Kardashian’s children, recently suffered a sudden tragedy that left him heartbroken. Kardashian was by his side as he joined his younger brothers for support.

On Thursday, January 5, Thompson was informed that his mother had passed away suddenly in the hospital in Toronto, Canada. Thompson traveled to Toronto to be with his brothers and family during this difficult time.

It was revealed that Thompson’s mother, Andrea, suffered a heart attack in her home and was rushed to the hospital, where medical staff attempted resuscitation. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead later that day.

After receiving the news, Thompson and his ex, Kardashian, arrived on a private jet in Toronto. The pair share two children, a daughter named True, four, and a son whose name has yet to be revealed to the public. Kardashian was by Thompson’s side as he rushed to be with his brothers.

They traveled from California to Thompson’s hometown of Tortonto together and Kardashian is said to have been in complete support of her ex while he made his way back to his family after losing their matriarch.

Thompson has three younger brothers, Dishawn, Daniel, and Amari. Thompson had often said that he felt like a father to his younger brothers and admitted that he helped his mom when it came to raising his brothers. He joked:

“I have to make sure I hold them accountable. If my mom texts me and lets me know if they’re acting up, I’m going to shoot them a text because I know what their weaknesses are. So they either get in line, or there’s going to be repercussions.”

What Relationship Did Tristan Have with His Mom?

Thompson and his mother shared a close relationship; he often showed his mother off on social media before her death. In one video he posted on Instagram, he talked about all the sacrifices she made for him and his brothers.

The video showed Thompson and his mother talking about an instance when Andrea had so much to do that she had to feel Thompson’s younger brother, Daniel, while she was driving a car.

Thompson was confident in his mother’s driving abilities because she was a school bus driver but quipped that he didn’t know whether or not it was safe to breastfeed while you drove. He then admitted that he didn’t voice that opinion because he was a child at the time.

The incident happened when Andrea was driving Thompson to a basketball tournament. He was grateful that she made so many sacrifices to ensure that he got to where he needed to be and helped him start his career in basketball.

Andrea went on to show off all her son’s achievements, kept in a trophy case in her home. She said how proud she was of him for achieving his dreams. Thomson posted the video for Mother’s Day and called Andrea “mommy” before saying how much he cherished her.

He used the same term each Mother’s Day and always said how grateful he was to have her as a mother and how much he loved her. Each time, he shared a photo of the two of them smiling at the camera or embracing.

Thompson was born to his father, a truck driver, and his mother, who drove a school bus. While his parents remain primarily behind the scenes, Thompson often expresses his love for his mother.

He shared more about his relationship with his family, particularly his mother, in a 2018 interview. He said:

“Even though I don’t live at home and I’m four hours away from home, I talk to my mom every day – ask how the kids are doing, ask how she’s doing, too.”

Thompson shared that he prioritized giving his mother a break from parenting now and then by gifting her massages and other things that would allow her to focus on herself for a couple of hours.

The basketball star admitted that his mother is specifically focused on raising his younger brother, Amari, who has epilepsy. It was tough for her to have that responsibility, which led him to want her to have a chance to unwind from to time.

He has also often shared posts of his mother and his children, once sharing a photo of Andrea and the daughter he shares with Kardashian. In the post’s caption, he revealed that Andrea’s name as a grandmother was “GiGi.”

While he is proud of his mother as a grandmother, he is even more proud of her as a mother to him and his three brothers. In a 2017 Mother’s Day post, Thompson gushed:

“Happy Mother’s Day, mommy; your hard work and sacrifices that you have made for our family has molded me into the man I am today. You’re my rock, my motivation and I am blessed and fortunate to be your son. I love you so much.”

Khloé Kardashian immediately showed the father of her children support when she found out his mother had passed away. However, other members of the Kardashian family shared their love with the NBA player, too.

to Andrea. She mentioned what a wonderful mother and grandmother Andrea was and said she was heartbroken at the news. She ended the post by saying that Andrea would be missed.
