Tyrone Davis Cause of Death, Former Packers, has died at the age of 50

On Oct. 2, 50-year-old Tyrrell Davis passed away. Jeffress Funeral Home published his obituary on Wednesday in South Boston, Virginia. Her cause of death is unknown.

During his time in the NFL, Davis played eight seasons. He spent the first two seasons of his career with the New York Jets after being drafted in the fourth round out of the University of Virginia. Following a trade in 1997, he joined the Packers and played 27 games in Green Bay, catching passes from Brett Favre.

In 1997, he played in the Super Bowl loss for Green Bay to the Denver Broncos. He caught 18 passes for 250 yards and seven touchdowns in 1998, which was his most productive season.

According to the team, Tyrone Davis passed away on Oct. 2 at age 50. Davis’ cause of death is unknown at this time. He was drafted in the fourth round by the Jets in 1995. During his two seasons in New York, he played for New York.

His obituary mentions that Davis attended Fork Union Military Academy in 1991 before attending UVA. He holds the record for touchdown receptions among wide receivers at Virginia with 28. As a result, he has been inducted into the Halifax County-South Boston Sports Hall of Fame. He leaves behind his mother and four children.

A tribute was posted on Facebook by Davis’ former Packers teammate Earl Dotson. As Dotson wrote, “I find it difficult to post this.” Tyrone Davis was my brother for years while with the NFL Green Bay Packers. Rest in Peace, my brother.
