At a young age, the West Yorkshire native Georgie Henley discovered her passion for acting. She then joined a local drama group where she participated in impressive stage performances before landing her first role in a fantasy film series that made her win several awards.

Georgie Henley was born in July 1995 in Ilkley, England, and is the youngest daughter of Mike and Helen Henley. Georgie is popularly known for her appearance in the show “The Chronicles of Nania.” Her role as Lucy, however, didn’t come easy; she had to audition for 18 months before being picked from thousands of other girls.

The actress studied at Bradford Grammar School in 2012 before joining Cambridge University in 2013 to study English. While in college, she did a lot of theatre work and a few stage plays. Although Georgie Henley now isn’t part of her local drama club, she has continued with her acting career on the big screen.

It’s been 12 years since “The Chronicles of Nania” premiered, and Georgie is still pursuing her acting career. According to her social media post, the actress shared her profile with acting credits for other projects she has worked on. The Young Artist Awards winner has also appeared in Philip Ridley’s new play “Tarantula,” which was broadcasted on Southwark Playhouse.

In an Instagram post, she [Georgie] gave credit to Hazel Press Publisher for including her poem “Hero Lover” in their anthology.

Georgie plays the role of Toni, a young teenager who gets her first kiss on a sunny day in East London. However, someone watches her, and the consequences change Toni’s life forever. The play is a shocking exploration of identity, love, memory, and the extent it takes individuals to set themselves free from their past.

Georgie Henley Talks about Battling a Serious Disease

The former child star opened up about almost losing her arm at a young age due to a bacterial infection. She disclosed that when she was eighteen and still in college, she contracted necrotizing fasciitis, which almost claimed her life. In an Instagram post, the actress revealed that the disease nearly destroyed her body:

“In order to prevent the amputation of my left hand and arm I received grueling invasive surgery, and later extensive reconstructive surgery that resulted in a series of skin grafts and scars.”

She said she used to hide her scars with makeup to get jobs. Georgie explained that it had taken her several years to physically and mentally heal, and she is now comfortable sharing her story with others. Alongside the post was her photo displaying her arm as she recalled the years she’s been concealing her scars at work.

Georgie Henley Now Writes Poems

Georgie has a significant following on social media for her incredible acting skills and often shares photos and videos of her work. With at least 377k followers on Instagram, the actress loves to update her fans about her personal and professional life. Besides acting, she has other interests and hobbies.

She likes watching movies with her friends, writing, and listening to music during her free time. The actress also strongly supports SOS Children’s Villages, an international non-profit organization that gives shelter to abandoned kids and orphans.

Georgie is also a poet; she often shares her poems on social media. In an Instagram post, she credited Hazel Press Publisher for including her poem “Hero Lover” in their anthology.

She added that it was always her dream to contribute to their collection and be associated with other poets. The actress further explained her poem “Hero Lover,” which talks about many heroes, different types of love, and multiple forms of worship.

Her goal is to continue spreading love and compassion through her poems. Georgie Henley believes that through her poetry, she can make people understand and appreciate the world they live in.
