Born Stephanie Lynn Nicks, she started playing the guitar with her grandfather at local gin mills when she was five. In Arcadia High School, she joined the Changing Times band before moving to California with her parents.
In California, she met Lindsey Buckingham, a songwriter, and guitarist, and they joined Fritz. This local band opened for acts like Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin before disbanding in 1971.

To join the band, Nicks dropped out of college making her parents cut her off financially, and so she had to wait tables to support herself and Buckingham, whom she had started dating.
The iconic duo started making music together, and she said Buckingham was her great musical love. In 1975, they joined Fleetwood Mac and became one of the best-selling music acts.

THE MEN IN THE LIFE OF STEVIE NICKS — FROM LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM TO KIM ANDERSON
One year after Nicks and Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac, they had a nasty fight while working on “Rumors,” and she ended their relationship.
After their breakup, she had a brief affair in 1977 with Mick Fleetwood during his second marriage before moving on to date Eagles founding member Don Henley.

Henley and Nicks would have married, but she decided not to settle down and have children due to her demanding career. Years after their breakup, they released a duet that peaked at No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks.
In 1983, Nicks went back on her words when she married her late best friend’s husband, Kim Anderson, three months after her friend died. Her best friend Robin Snyder had just had a baby two days before she died of leukemia.

Nick revealed that she married him because she thought Snyder would have wanted her to take care of the baby. The marriage only lasted three months as she said that she received a sign from her late friend to end things.
From 1983, she dated Eagle’s frontrunner, Joe Walsh, for three years, and Nicks called him the “great, great love” of her life. Even though she said there was nothing more important than him, he ended their relationship and asked her never to contact him again.

WHY STEVIE NICKS DECIDED NOT TO HAVE CHILDREN
Nicks was deliberate about not having children because she knew that her focus would change with kids, and she believed that she would not be the artist she is today. She said:
“My mission maybe wasn’t to be a mom and a wife; maybe my particular mission was to write songs to make moms and wives feel better.”
In 2020, she revealed that she once had an abortion for Henley. The superstar who has fans like Adam Levine dancing to her beats said if she had not done it, Fleetwood Mac might not have been as successful as it became.
