Ellen DeGeneres broke ground when it came to LGBTQ+ acceptance. She brought laughter to people’s living rooms. In more recent years, she tarnished her character. But, good or bad, for over a decade, one woman has stood by her side.

After almost 20 years, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” has ended after a scandal rocked the comedian herself and the talk show’s credibility.

There were claims that employees who worked for the company and DeGeneres were involved in a highly toxic environment. There were allegations of racism, sexual misconduct, and so much more.

Speaking about her show coming to an end, DeGeneres expressed that she wasn’t as sad as she assumed she would have been.

Oprah Winfrey, a talk show legend, has admitted that the show’s end has made her somewhat emotional. DeGeneres also expressed her surprise at how tearful some celebrity guests on her talk show were regarding the conclusion of the series.

WHY DID ELLE DEGENERES BREAK UP WITH ANNE CELESE HECHE?

Although scandalous now, DeGeneres was an almost -revolutionary figure when dating her ex-girlfriend Anne Heche.

The two dated openly in the 1990s, a brave move for two women in a same-sex relationship. Heche has since stated how proud she was to be a figure that helped push equality forward.

While their bravery created positive change in the long term, the couple was treated poorly due to their romantic relationship.

Heche claimed that she was threatened with being fired from her project with Fox because of their relationship. Now, although not perfect, DeGeneres can lead a more peaceful life with her wife.

WHO IS ELLEN DEGENERES MARRIED TO?

DeGeneres is married to actress Portia de Rossi, who she met in 2000 and married in 2008. This was not long after the Supreme Court of California legalized same-sex marriage, making it a love story and a victory.

DeGeneres recollected how her wife used a specific quote in her vows: “It is good to be loved. It is profound to be understood.” She claimed that these words represent what love really means to her — to be understood.

Since these vows were uttered 13 years ago, the two still seem entirely besotted with one another. Speaking about their marriage, DeGeneres expressed how lucky she feels to be married to Rossi and has referred to her as her “favorite person.”

Rossi has expressed how her comedian wife has taught her to be less serious and knows to make her laugh. She vehemently defended DeGeneres when the scandal alleging that the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” is a toxic workplace came out.

WHY DID THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW END?

While many believe that this controversy brought about the decision to end the show, the talk show host stated that this is not true.

Instead, she claimed that her intuition told her to end the series. DeGeneres also stated that the choice came about long before the scandal.

Whatever may be true, Rossi will be there no matter what. As they say, behind every great woman is another great woman.
