He is known to take on adventurous roles, such as he did with characters like Julian Noble, Remington Steele, Thomas Crown, and, of course, James Bond – roles where the actor has a license to kill and a fondness for seduction.

The Irish actor and producer, who celebrated his 69th birthday on May 16, 2022, had a rough childhood, an unhappy experience in school, and ended up getting lost in a world of Westerns and comic-book heroes, and Norman Wisdom movies.

At 16, the actor dropped out of school, joined a theatrical group, honed his craft, and won a place at the Drama Centre of London. He moved from being an assistant stage manager to understudy for the lead and becoming a lead man.

Brosnan met his first wife, Harris, in 1977 at the house of a mutual friend. When they met, she was still married and had two children in their teens.

She was an Australian model and actress who had starred in “The Greek Tycoon,” the James Bond film “For Your Eyes Only, ” and “Rough Cut.”

After encouraging him to join Hollywood, they both starred in the TV series “Remington Steele” and married in a registry office ceremony in December 1980.

Three years after their marriage, they welcomed a son, Sean Brosnan. When the father of Harris’s children passed away in 1986, Brosnan officially adopted them, and they took his surname.

HOW DID PIERCE BROSNAN LOSE HIS FIRST WIFE?

In 1987, Brosnan and Harris found out that she was suffering from an aggressive form of ovarian cancer in her late 30s. Despite the toll it took on them, Brosnan said:

“Cassie took her destiny in her own hands with incredible courage and grace.”

He was always there for his wife as she went through four years of treatment, eight surgeries, and 18 months of chemo. Unfortunately, in December of 1991, they realized it was the end.

Harris died on December 28, 1991, at 43 and left Brosnan with their three children. Despite it being a difficult period for him, Brosnan said:

“She has made me the man I am, the actor I am, the father I am. She’s forever embedded in every fiber of my being. […] I was so blessed to have met someone like that.”

In 2013, Brosnan was struck by another tragedy when he lost his daughter Charlotte at 41 to the same disease that took her mother.

WHO IS PIERCE BROSNAN MARRIED TO? MEET KEELY SHAYE SMITH, THE WOMAN WHO MADE “JAMES BOND” ACTOR BELIEVE IN LOVE AGAIN 

In 2001, Brosnan married for the second time to Keely Shaye Smith. Smith is a Californian TV personality, journalist, and author, who has also ventured into modeling and acting.

Smith and Brosnan met in 1994 when she was working as a TV correspondent in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. They connected at a party, and she said he was captivating with a mischievous sparkle in his eyes.

A few days later, they had their first date, talked until 3 a.m., and the feeling between them was mutual because Brosnan said they “seemed to fit.”

In 1997, they welcomed their first son Dylan, and in 2001 they had a second child, Paris. A few months after Paris was born, they married and have been happy ever since. Brosnan, who calls Smith his “beautiful luscious love,” said:

“I found a great woman in Keely Shaye. Not if I searched a million times over would I find one as good.”

His children were excited for him to have found love again, and the couple revealed that spending quality time together has been a critical ingredient of their happy union.

Over the years, people had expected Brosnan to act like his characters in real life with a penchant for seduction. However, the actor has always remained faithful in his relationships.

The actor, who has been married to Smith for over two decades, had to defend his wife over vicious hate comments in recent years.

In addition to dealing with strangers talking about Smith’s body, Brosnan revealed that their family friends had suggested surgery to help her lose weight. In her defense, he said:

“But I strongly love every curve of her body. She is the most beautiful woman in my eyes. And also because she had our five children.”

Brosnan has always loved his wife for her person and loves her even more now that they have children. The actor proves that outsiders’ opinions of his wife will not faze him.
