Who Is Stoney Westmoreland? Disney Actor Was Sentenced to Two Years in Federal Prison

After being sentenced to two years behind bars, Disney actor Stoney Westmoreland was fired from his series. Initially, the star had a ten-year sentence but pleaded with prosecutors to alter his punishment.

There are often high expectations to be a good example from actors and actresses working under children-targeted media companies such as Disney. This is why it comes as a surprise when legal charges are pressed against someone in the field.

Among them is Stoney Westmoreland, who was charged with attempted exploitation of a minor and enticing a minor.

After making a plea deal with prosecutors, the actor’s initial ten-year sentence was reduced to two years in prison and ten years of supervised release.

WHO IS STONEY WESTMORELAND

Westmoreland is an actor and producer known for his roles on AMC’s “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul,” ABC’s “Scandal,” and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” and CBS’ “NCIS.” He also appeared in the movies “Matchstick Men” and “Godzilla.”

Given his charges in Utah, where the show is being filmed, it is fair that the company protects its other cast members.

He is also a talented screenwriter, recognized for the 2018 film “Golden Boy,” among his other on-screen work.

WHAT DID STONEY WESTMORELAND DO IN DISNEY?

Westmoreland also starred in Disney’s “Andi Mack,” bringing life to Henry “Ham” Mack, the titular character’s grandfather.

The actor had recurring roles in the comedy series, created by Terri Minsky, and has since appeared in 37 episodes.

WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS ROLE ON “ANDY MACK?”

However, a Disney spokesperson confirmed that Westmoreland was fired from the show following his legal charges. The spokesperson said:

“Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role, and he will not be returning to work on the series.”

Disney did not specify if the character would be recast or wholly written off. Still, given his charges in Utah, where the show is being filmed, it is fair that the company protects its other cast members.

There have been other stars charged with similar cases, including Bill Cosby, who allegedly sexually assaulted several women. In 2004, Andrea Constand came forward with such allegations, followed by a dozen other women.

Cosby was sentenced to a three to ten-year sentence but was released on June 30, 2021. Cosby’s wife, Camille, stuck by him and supported him throughout his court battles.

According to Camille, his husband was not the man who committed such fault. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Camille revealed that her husband and family were the most important people in her life.
