Widow Kathie Lee Gifford Emotionally Reacts to Grandbaby’s Birth Shows Herself Babysitting Newborn

Kathie Lee Gifford is best known for her role as the host of “Today,” although she has had many other parts during her time in the entertainment industry and has even dabbled in songwriting and being an author.

Gifford has had a remarkable career in the spotlight but suffered immense heartbreak when her husband of three decades passed away. She and her family rallied together to overcome their grief and now have cause for celebration.

In 2018, as the third anniversary of her husband’s death approached, she talked to fellow TV host Hoda Kotb about what it was like to be a widow, saying she had a moment of realization that she was a widow because she didn’t define herself that way.

Gifford was married to former New York Giants player Frank Gifford. He passed away at the couple’s home in Connecticut in 2015, just before he turned 85. He left Gifford and their two daughters behind.

After all the heartache that Gifford has suffered after losing her husband, their daughter has given her a new lease on life with the arrival of her new baby. Cassidy Gifford took to Instagram to announce the birth of her son.

Cassidy posted a photo of her son’s foot in her hand and announced that his name was Finn Thomas Wierda and that he had entered the world on June 24, 2023. She gushed:

“We are so madly in love with you, buddy. Thank you, Lord, for this most precious gift.”

Gifford then shared her excitement at welcoming her new grandchild into the world. She started by saying her daughter and her partner were excellent, and their love for one another was awe-inspiring.

Gifford shared that the love Cassidy and her partner have for one another is expressed beautifully in how they care for their newborn son. She also said the little boy was the best of both his parents.

The TV host also said she was praising God for the gift of her grandson and that she was rejoicing both with and for her daughter on the momentous occasion of becoming a mother to her son.

Gifford then took to Twitter to share how she felt about becoming a grandmother to little Finn. She quoted a bible verse as she shared:

“Grandchildren are the crowning glory to the aged; parents are the pride of their children. Proverbs 17:6. Father God, I am rejoicing with my daughter, Cassidy, and her wonderful husband, Ben, at the birth of their absolutely precious Finn Thomas.”

Gifford’s fans, friends, and colleagues took to the post’s comments section to congratulate her on the baby’s birth and becoming a grandmother. Gifford then got to spend some quality time with the little one.

Days after Finn was born, Gifford shared a photo of herself holding the little boy on Instagram. She mentioned it was a joy to spend time with him as she held him in her arms and gazed lovingly down at him.

She wished all her followers a happy July 4 and said she felt like the most blessed woman in the world. Once again, fans, friends, and colleagues commented to wish the family well.
