Prince William is one of the royals at the top of the line to the British royal throne. However, while his top position is stamped, he has sometimes sought other career paths.

The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, stands second in line in the order of succession, and all his life, he has been prepared to assume the throne once it’s time.

He was born the first child of Princess Diana and Prince Charles, who is first in line to the throne. William joined his highly-esteemed family in 1982, and his birth marked a pivotal period in British history.

It was the first time a Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed an heir since 1905. William’s life was undoubtedly marked by royalty with many life essentials and more at his disposal, but his mother was determined to give him a relatively normal childhood.

William’s younger brother Prince Harry was born two years later in 1984, and the boys grew up enjoying a fun life. Diana would take them on public bus rides and have them visit orphanages, homeless shelters, and hospitals.

This was all to ensure William and Harry understood how people lived and dealt with distress. She also wanted them to be emotionally connected beyond the palace walls.

William was said to have been vocal about not wanting to be king growing up. According to royal author Robert Jobson, William always wanted to be a policeman, which was connected to his mother.

William was described as a child with keen eyes to know when his mother was stressed or when she needed him. He reportedly said that he would become a policeman someday to protect her.

While this was William’s childhood wish, his younger brother, Harry, seemed willing to step in for him as king.

Media presenter Jeremy Paxman once stated that he had an audience with Diana once, within which they talked about each other’s kids.

He stated that amid their conversation, Princess Diana said her oldest son expressed his mind of not wanting to be king, while her youngest child would often chip in that he would be king in his place.

William did not fulfill his childhood wish of becoming a police officer, but he did some military training as a young adult. He graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and had Airforce and Naval training.

Over the years, Prince William has grown so much and is much more accustomed to what it means to be a top royal member, unlike when he was a little boy. Once in an interview with BBC, he opened up on his perception of the throne.

The prince acknowledged that his grandmother, the Queen, has been the perfect example of what a leader requires. He expressed how her approach to teaching him the values of being a leader was more of gentle guidance.

When asked if he shared Queen Elizabeth’s sense of duty, William stated that he did and understood that it was an essential aspect of being the head of The Firm. He added for good measure that he took duty very seriously.

The 40-year-old emphasized that it was about finding one’s way at the right time. He also acknowledged that duty could weigh one down without one being careful.

William and his wife, Duchess Kate, responsibilities as royals have been performed with a personable approach. According to experts, this indicates William’s intent to modernize the monarchy.

For his 40th birthday, the public figure opened up about his passions, such as homelessness, mental health, and environmental issues.

He assured the public of his wish to continue working on bringing these issues to the spotlight and seeing that actions were taken.

The couple prefers to be referred to as Kate and William on his and Kate’s personable signature. There are also indications that he intends to drop curtsies and bows.

William is taking more roles in line with what is expected of a future King, and as natural as that can be, his son, Prince George, is gradually getting the hang of it all.

According to Insiders, William and Kate decided their son would have as much of a normal childhood as possible, and they held off discussing his future for the most part.

The reason is that William did not want the same eminent reality that hung over him when he was a child to be his son’s reality. There were reports that Princess Diana insinuated he would leapfrog his father to the monarchy.

While he and Kate were subtle about telling George tidbits of his royal position, sources stated that the youngster just wanted to know if he could continue watching football when he became king.

Queen Elizabeth is reportedly impressed as William’s family keeps becoming more aware of their role and what it could become in the coming years. Furthermore, reports show that the Queen trusts William more concerning his future role as king.

William displayed his leadership qualities and sense of duty amid the novel coronavirus pandemic lockdown, which proved him worthy of the Queen’s trust. He has also been actively involved with Prince Charles.

According to insiders, the pair have worked closely together and intend to guide each other on their paths to the throne. William is said to be excited about this new chapter of his life.

He and his dad have reportedly agreed on a few things for the future. One is the plan to slim down the monarch and its working royals. The insider describes their approach as “less people, less drama.”

Through the years, Prince William stepped away from being an air ambulance pilot to taking up more royal responsibilities. He has taken solo tours globally and has been heavily involved in charity work.

In the same vein, William’s influence has grown immensely. According to social statistics, the royal member, who is second in line to the throne, stands next to the Queen in popularity.

Royal photographer Arthur Edwards gave an insight into how he felt when Prince William evolved into taking up more roles and standing tall through it all. He commended the prince for his recent efforts but pointed out how he felt about William at an earlier time.

The photographer stated that William used to ask him not to take too many photos when they went out on duty. Edwards noted that this made him feel William was not ready for his top royal role.

Royal fans Christine Ross and Christina Garibaldi opined that William has changed in recent years. Garibaldi noted that William was more accepting of what lay ahead of him.

According to her, this was unlike his approach many years ago. She recalled when William was asked if he wanted to be king, and he replied that no one wanted that in their future.

More experts’ input shows that William is well-grounded in his role and has become one with it. However, sometimes, the need to break away becomes overwhelming.

The expert indicated that there are still times he looks back but can rein it in for the sake of responsibilities. Moving forward, William plans to wield a modernized monarch alongside his wife.

Kate has been instrumental in helping him come to terms, and she also proved to be strong despite her subtle approach to being in the public eye. She and William are said to have created a balance between openness and privacy.
