Police in South Yorkshire have launched an appeal after an elderly lady and her pet were savagely attacked by two out of control dogs.
It is reported that the 85-year-old was walking her 13-year-old Labrador on Hague Avenue in Rawmarsh at the time of the attack on Wednesday, October 25. Police said that at around 11.30am, the victim was approached by what are thought to be two Cane Corso dogs who began attacking her Labrador.
The elderly woman was knocked to the ground during the attack and suffered head injuries. Her pet required treatment at a vets and police are now appealing for information to try and find the owner of the Cane Corso dogs who is said to have fled the scene.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police: “We’re seeking to identify the owner of two Cane Corso dogs who attacked an elderly dog and caused injury to his elderly owner in Rotherham.
“It is reported that on Wednesday 25 October at 11:30am an 85-year-old woman was walking her 13-year-old Labrador on Hague Avenue in Rawmarsh when two dogs, believed to be Cane Corso approached her and started attacking the Labrador.
“During the attack, the 85-year-old woman was knocked over and suffered injuries to her head. The dog required veterinary treatment.
“The Cane Corso dogs were reportedly being walked by a woman who fled the scene and failed to provide any details. Was it you?

As we approach Halloween and Bonfire Night dogs can act unpredictably due to the stress of noise and fireworks. The police have appealed to the public to walk their dogs on a lead, use a muzzle if you necessary and keep dogs under control.
