Woman Discovers Her Gynecologist Is Actually Her Father after a Creepy Exam He Gave Her

A woman’s appointment with her gynecologist took a different turn when he allegedly passed “creepy” comments about her while examining her body. Something clicked, so she immediately took an ancestry DNA test. Later, someone unfamiliar reached out to her and exposed that the doctor was actually her biological father.

They say never to lie to a doctor. But what if the doctor you trusted your physical details with had been keeping a dark secret from you? This woman’s doctor had performed pelvic and breast exams on her for nine years. He had even discussed her intimate life and everything concerning women’s health.

One day during her routine checkup, the woman was horrified when he passed weird comments while doing an intimate examination on her. She was crushed and suspected he could be her anonymous biological father. But when she dug deeper into the matter, some darker secrets came to light.

AN APPOINTMENT THAT GAVE THE CLUES  

In April 2021, New York-based Morgan Hellquist visited her gynecologist, Morris Wortman, assuming it would be one of her regular appointments. Since she was Wortman’s regular patient, she thought there was nothing to worry about.

The clues eventually led to New York fertility doctor Morris Wortman, the same gynecologist hailed as a “family hero” for his successful artificial insemination procedures.

The doctor invited his wife into the examination room so that she could discern a physical resemblance to him. During the checkup, he began conducting an intimate ultrasound exam on Hellquist. The procedure appeared normal until Wortman allegedly passed “creepy” remarks, much to Hellquist’s shock.

TRACKING AN ANONYMOUS SPERM DONOR

The doctor had reportedly requested her to take off her mask, saying she looked better without it. Before Hellquist could process what he had just told her, Wortman chuckled: “You’re really a good kid…such a good kid.”

At this point, the truth dawned on Hellquist that something about Wortman wasn’t right. Ever since her birth in 1985, the woman was aware that she was conceived through artificial insemination after her mom’s husband was paralyzed in a crash.

Growing up, Hellquist was aware that her biological father was an anonymous sperm donor. But the strange encounter, coupled with Wortman’s weird comments during the checkup, made something click. Later, she took an ancestry DNA test to find her birth father.

A STRANGER CALLS & UNRAVELS THE MYSTERY 

On the other hand, 37-year-old David Berry had lived with the assumption that he was of Italian and Irish descent. But a DNA test dropped a bomb, unraveling his biological history.

Berry began connecting the dots that led to Morgan Hellquist, who was already immersed in doubts about her paternity and Wortman’s connection to it. She said:

“I got this message, and it said, I think we’re related…I grabbed his [David Berry] face. I just looked, and I was like, ‘Why is your face on my face?’ Like, I just couldn’t understand. It was the craziest experience I’ve ever had.”

A DOCTOR THAT KEPT HIS PATIENTS IN DECEPTION 

It was a shock of a lifetime when Berry and Hellquist later tracked down more half-siblings with more than just common DNA. The clues eventually led to New York fertility doctor Morris Wortman; the same gynecologist hailed as a “family hero” for his successful artificial insemination procedures.

Hellquist and Berry’s mothers and the moms of the other half-siblings were treated for infertility by Wortman. At the time, they were told the sperm donor was an anonymous medical student.

Shockingly enough, it turned out to be Wortman’s thread of elaborate deceptions. Eventually, things took a different turn when it was revealed that he was the one who impregnated the women through artificial insemination with his sperm without their consent.

IT IS EVEN MORE EXCRUCIATING  

In September 2021, a devastated Hellquist decided to drag Wortman to court for allegedly using his sperm to impregnate her mother without her knowledge.

“He knew the whole time who he was, and I didn’t. He took away that choice for me,” she sobbed, adding:

“I do not have a fertility fraud case. I have a case because he touched my body without my consent.”

PRESSING LEGAL CHARGES 

Hellquist sought monetary compensation for significant trauma, alleging Wortman of medical malpractice, negligence, battery, fraud, and infliction of distress.

Despite the emotional trauma, she believed that there was a silver lining that helped her muster the courage to go through the painful phase. She expressed:

“David and my siblings are, it’s not even bittersweet. It’s that they’re the shining glue that holds me together during all of this.”
