Weather maps are predicting a ‘wall of snow‘ is set to cover Yorkshire in a blanket of the white stuff this weekend as an arctic blast is set to hit Northern England and the Midlands.

According to WXCharts, snow will come in from the west, passing over Liverpool and Manchester before arriving in Yorkshire on Sunday morning. The snow front will arrive in Yorkshire from 9am Sunday morning, covering South, West, East and parts of North Yorkshire.

There will be around one to three centimetres of snow falling an hour, depending on where you are at the time. The snow will then continue into midday – seeing around 2cms of snow falling in Sheffield and South Yorkshire an hour – but will begin to peter out as the afternoon progresses.

And people in South Yorkshire should think about getting their sledges out of the loft before Sunday, as at around 3pm most of the snow will be falling directly across the region – reducing to around 1cm an hour. However, by 6pm the snow will stop with the evening becoming much drier.

It follows a blizzard that resulted in snow settling down across north Leeds and areas of north and east Yorkshire on Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.
