A Yorkshire city has once again been named the best in the UK.
Thanks to its stunning winding streets, cobbled shambles and quirky shops, bars and restaurants, York has once again been named as the best city in the UK to visit, by Conde Nast Traveller.
It’s no surprise that the historic city of York has been dubbed one of the best, the place is thriving with history, sights and things to do. It’s packed full of fascinating history, including the city walls – which make for a fab walk – and the York Minster.

But, not only has the city got picturesque heritage but it is drastically improving in places to eat and its nightlife, which was once lacking, is growing with roof terraces and beautiful independent bars, and many more new venues popping up in the city centre.
York is also home to the National Railway Museum, and it wouldn’t be a trip to York without a proper Viking experience, so make sure to check out the JORVIK centre.
The city also makes for a perfect city break, thriving with hotels, BnB’s and boutiques – and the food selection is improving daily. It even ranked higher than London and Edinburgh on Conde Nast’s list.
