Michelle Stafford took to social media twice over the weekend after accidentally erasing her Instagram Live video promoting her clean skincare brand, Skin Nation.

The clip still had the spontaneous quality of a live video, with Michelle Stafford joking about the brand being “love free” while listing some of the elements it was free of.

In fact, the love of someone dear to her prompted the star to launch the brand. The actress was triggered to research the chemicals in everyday products after her sister, Janine S. Baker’s stage 3-breast cancer diagnosis over a decade ago.

“I found so many toxins and carcinogens in our skin care. I wanted skincare [that] didn’t have any of that. That’s what I created!” Stafford wrote in the video’s caption on April 22, 2023.

“You mentioned your sister being diagnosed with cancer- is she ok now?” an Instagram user asked, to which “The Young and the Restless” actress replied:

“Yes!! Over 10 years cancer free.”

The soap star explained in the caption and video that she is once again the sole owner of Skin Nation, which she launched in 2015.

She led the ‘Net Chicks,’ a tennis team she captains, to victory in January.

Stafford said the business has had its “ups and downs” but has always been “a successful company.” On the website, the brand emphasizes that they are not about “‘Fast Food’ beauty” and that one will see results with consistent usage.

Michelle Stafford’s Sister ‘Annihilated’ the Disease

On World Cancer Day 2017, the actress celebrated Baker’s strength by sharing a photo of her close-cropped hair, laughing while holding a hat and scarf. Stafford wrote:

“This is my sister Janine who didn’t just kick cancer in the [expletive] 3 1/2 years ago; she annihilated it!!! Today she is cancer free!!”

Last June, for National Cancer Survivor’s Day, she praised all the “warrior survivors:” “You killed cancer. All of my love and accolades go to you.” Michelle Stafford mentioned that other family members beat the disease and chose to remain anonymous.

Baker celebrated her ninth year of being cancer free in 2022 and has an active lifestyle. She led the ‘Net Chicks,’ a tennis team she captains, to victory in January at the Burbank Tennis Center.

The tennis player is equally as supportive of her sibling’s endeavors. She attended a Skin Nation event in October 2018 and tagged a photo with her sister in part, “#feelingood #fun #proudsister #respect #begoodtoyourself.”

Other celebrities who have opened out about their loved one’s cancer diagnosis include Sam Heughan—his older brother Cirdan Heughan survived testicular cancer—and Ryan Gosling. Gosling mentioned the late brother of his partner Eva Mendes in an acceptance speech.
