Zaya Wade’s Boyfriend: Dwyane Wade’s Daughter Appears to Be Single Again

Zaya Wade is the daughter of former NBA star player Dwyane Wade and his first wife, Siohvaughn Funches. In 2020, it was announced that she is transgender, and the teenager showed off her boyfriend in 2022.

The much-loved daughter to celebrity parents brought her first publicly known boyfriend to a family gathering on Easter Sunday in 2022. Unfortunately, the relationship appears to have been brief, as there are signs that they have already gone their separate ways.

Zaya Wade Debuted Her First Public Boyfriend in 2022

The 2022 Easter Sunday was when the Wade clan welcomed Zaya’s boyfriend, Huaze Leo, to their family table. Zaya revealed on Instagram that “I’ve had the best weekend spending quality time with my family and s/o for Easter.” The caption included photos of her, her father, and her significant other.

From the social media posts detailing the gathering, Huaze Leo seemed happy and relaxed in the presence of his partner’s famous parents. Some media outlets refer to him as Hudson.

Leo is trans and uses he/him pronouns. His newfound relationship with Zaya was received with mixed reactions online, which is expected on social media. There were some supportive comments for the young couple, with one user, Eli Elick, commenting:

“Dwyane Wade’s trans teen daughter Zaya is in a t4t relationship with a trans boy!? I wish I had this kind of representation when I was growing up! The kids are alright.”

It Appears Zaya Wade Is No Longer Dating Huaze Leo

There seemed to be trouble in paradise when Leo deleted all photos with Zaya from his Instagram a few months after spending Easter Sunday together. Making matters worse, Leo possibly debuted his new girlfriend when he shared a photo of himself with another girl shortly after deleting the Zaya posts.

The caption to that post read, “Sometimes, one person changes everything,” which could have been a reference to the new girl in his life. Zaya, for her part, has never posted any more pictures of her now potentially ex-boyfriend.

Although nothing about the breakup is confirmed, the evidence to support it suggests that they are no longer together. It is a rather sad ending to a young love just starting to blossom.

When Zaya told her father that she identifies as a trans girl and not a boy, Dwyane confessed that that was a new road for him as he had never had that conversation with anyone before. He added that he had been one of the people who had said the wrong things about the LGBTQ+ community before.

However, hearing that from his daughter was followed by a moment of reflection for the former NBA star. Dwyane confronted his biases and made himself available to his child as he had been before he knew. He also needed to support Zaya and ensure she felt as comfortable as possible.

Dwyane and his wife, Gabrielle Union, have backed their little girl, enabling her to stand tall. Despite the backlash they have received from some quarters, especially on social media, Dwyane reiterated that it would not change the love he has for Zaya.

When the announcement about Zaya being transgender was made in 2020, Dwyane stated, “First of all, me and my wife, Gabrielle Union, we are proud parents of a child in the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re proud allies as well.” Dwyane’s public declarations have strengthened the bond with his daughter, who appears to have complete confidence in him.
