Some can find it shocking, but it is not entirely surprising. Kyrie Irving, who made headlines in 2018 for claiming that the Earth is flat and 2021 for his stance on vaccination, has now given air to a fringe conspiracy with strong anti-semitic roots.
Kyrie Irving took to Instagram to share a vintage 2002 clip from infamous conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Captioned “never forget: Alex Jones tried to warn us”, the repost comes from an account named ‘The Free Thought Project’.
The video of Alex Jones, founder of the far-right InfoWars website claims: “Yes there are have been corrupt societies. There is a tyrannical organization calling itself the New World Order…by releasing diseases and viruses and plagues upon us, we then basically get shoved into their system”.

Alex Jones has been in hot water in 2022, and was forced to pay a high financial compensation due to his continuous harassment campaign of the parents of the Sandy Hook school shooting.
What is the New World Order conspiracy theory?
The New World Order conspiracy theory claims that that a secretive power elite with a globalist agenda is conspiring to eventually rule the world through an authoritarian one-world government. According to a publication by the Middlebury Institute, the theory can “appear innocuous at first”, but is actually a “real-world danger”, and promotes anti-semitism with claims that the Jewish plays a large role in the orchestration of the ‘NWO’.
Under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, citizens are free to express their views. However, it does not guarantee that all speech is free of consequences, as is the case for hate speech, for example. Kyrie Irving should reflect of whose voices he is amplifying by sharing this content matter.
