The field invader who got tackled by Los Angeles Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner at Levi’s Stadium during Monday Night Football reportedly filed an assault complaint, according to the Santa Clara Police Department, per TMZ Sports.

Despite not mentioning the animal rights activist by name, Lieutenant Cuong Phan confirmed the complaint.

“It’s an active investigation,” Lieutenant Cuong Phan said. “I can confirm a person did come in [Tuesday] at 1:45 p.m. and filed a report. However, it’s an ongoing investigation, so we’re not able to release details at this time.”

The protestor, widely identified as Alex Taylor of Direct Action Everywhere, invaded the field with a pink smoke bomb and security struggled to catch him.

Wagner and defensive lineman Takk McKinley intervened by tackling him to the ground so security could take him away.

Wagner doesn’t regret tackling protestor

Wagner doesn’t regret tackling the field invader, saying one never knows what else they could be carrying.

“You just never know,” Wagner said. “You never know, like, people run on the field for no reason sometimes and again, I’m pretty sure it’s gonna keep happening, but you never know what that person got in they pocket, in they hands, whatever.

“Kind of like what I said after the game so, you know, there’s consequences for your actions.”

Rams head coach Sean McVay said he supports Wagner and the organization is aware of the assault complaint.

It’s unclear whether the complaints are against Wagner and McKinley alone or the entire Rams organization.
