Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United this summer, but the ex-Real Madrid man is struggling to find a club ready to welcome him. That almost certainly won’t be Atletico Madrid, as their supporters have made clear.

Los Rojiblancos are one of the clubs that Jorge Mendes has offered his client to, and some behind the scenes at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano were thought to be keen on exploring the possibility of his signing.

The fans, though, have made it clear that they are not in favour of the idea. The International Union of Atletico Madrid supporters’ groups – which links over 300 groups around the world – has come out in firm opposition to the proposed move.

Speaking out, the group expressed their “absolute rejection” of Cristiano Ronaldo, and went as far as to say that the forward is “the antithesis of the values” that Atleti stand for, such as “effort, selflessness, and humility”.

To rub further salt into the Cristiano Ronaldo‘s wounds, they added that he is “a player in clear decline”.

Making their feelings clear, the Atletico supporters’ group asked the club to “dismiss the possibility of his signing, if it has been considered at any point”.
