Gareth Bale, who will become a free agent on June 30, 2022, said goodbye to Real Madrid this week, finally bringing his time at Real Madrid to an end.

For a number of years, Bale had been linked with a Real Madrid exit. The closest permanent departure came in 2019, with him linked with a move to China.

He then joined Tottenham on loan, but his return to North London didn’t go to plan and he ended up returning to the Spanish capital.

Now, after his Estadio Santiago Bernabeu farewell, there is speculation about his possible retirement from football.

However, Bale, 32, is unwilling to comment on speculation, insisting that his decision will not depend on whether Wales qualify for the World Cup in Qatar 2022.

“Not necessarily, no,” Bale said, asked if Wales’ possible qualification would impact on his decision, reported by the Mirror. “As I’ve said before, I’m not concentrating on what the future holds.

“We’ve got a very important game. I don’t need to think or worry about anything else.”

If he continues with his playing career, Bale will have no problem finding a new club at which to play, at least according to his own words, because when he was questioned about whether he had any offers on the table, the Welshman said with a smile: “I’ve got a lot!”

With Ukraine having beaten Wales’ neighbours, Scotland, despite the ongoing war in their country, Bale was asked about their upcoming opponents and their off-field concerns.

“Just seeing the pictures and reading about what’s going on is heartbreaking,” Bale said.
