Gareth Bale finishes his contract with Real Madrid on June 30 and his agent, Jonathan Barnett, has confirmed what has been known for a long time: that he is leaving the club.

But he also acknowledges that his future, with retirement an option, depends on whether or not Wales qualify for the World Cup.

“Gareth is leaving Real Madrid, but we have to wait for what Wales do. It all depends on whether his national team qualifies for the World Cup, then we will make a decision, which may vary if Wales go to the World Cup or not,” he said in an interview with Record.

Barnett, Madrid’s scourge in recent years due to Bale‘s controversial situation at the club, does not bite his tongue when it comes to criticising the fact that the World Cup will be played in November.

“It’s the most ridiculous decision ever made. It’s madness. We’re all used to seeing games on weekends during the season, and suddenly it’s November and everything stops,” says the controversial agent.

Bale has featured just five times for Los Blancos in LaLiga Santander this season, scoring once.
