Robert Lewandowski is very close to joining Barcelona and Bayern Munich have even officially confirmed that there is a verbal agreement for the striker to move to the Camp Nou.
CEO Oliver Kahn had been insisting that the player would have to fulfil his contract in Bavaria, but has now changed his tune.
“We have agreed to release Robert Lewandowski and we have a verbal agreement with Barcelona, although the contract is still pending,” Kahn said this Saturday.
“We know very well what we have to thank Robert Lewandowski for.
“But great players have also left Bayern in the past, and even after that, Bayern‘s world did not fall apart. On the contrary, it often continued with even more success.”

Kahn wasn’t the only Bayern director to speak about the departure of Lewandowski, with board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic also addressing the situation.
“Robert Lewandowski has done great things for Bayern,” Salihamidzic said.
“We spoke at length with our colleagues from Barcelona and clarified the details.

The Bayern club president Herbert Hainer also spoke about this topic in an interview with Bayerischer Rundfunk.
“It’s good for both sides that we have clarity,” Hainer said.
“Robert has earned our appreciation, he has won everything with us. We are incredibly grateful to him.”
Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund in 2014 and has won eight Bundesliga titles with the team from Bavaria.
In his time at the Allianz Arena, he scored 344 goals in 375 matches and he’ll now start a new adventure outside of Germany, trying to prove himself in LaLiga Santander.
