New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, both mentioned quarterback Mac Jones when speaking on the botched final play on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Belichick, 70, threw his QB under the bus by saying that he didn’t call a Hail Mary on the final play because Jones “couldn’t throw it that far.”

The play in question was with the clock winding down to zero in the final frame and the score tied at 24-24. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson could have gone down to head into overtime, but decided to lateral to Meyers. He then threw it to Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones, who ran to the house for a TD.

“I thought I saw Mac Jones open,” Meyers said.

Former Patriots receiver Julian Edelman also had a hilarious reaction to the last-gasp, backwards lateral that ended up in a walkoff touchdown for Las Vegas.

Edelman, 36, who was inside Allegiant Stadium watching the wild sequence, shared his reaction on social media.

“What the f–k are we doing,” Edelman said.

Tom Brady, meanwhile, was also going through a tough time as his former coach and teammates pulled off the worst botch job in NFL history.
