The announcement of Tom Brady‘s return to the NFL to continue playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers caused a massive impact worthy of his legend, but one of the people who most enjoyed the decision made by the quarterback was Joel Glazer.
The Buccaneers co-owner was questioned about Brady’s announcement of his return to the league, just 40 days after he had decided to retire, allowing the team to remain a Super Bowl contender.
“Having Tom Brady back is unbelievable,” Glazer said via the Tampa Bay Times. “He’s been unbelievable for our franchise, as everyone knows. And I’ve never been around anybody with the tireless work ethic, the leadership, the person he is and having done it for so long. So having him back is the greatest news I heard all offseason.”
Glazer endured Brady’s retirement as just another fan
Glazer recounted how he lived through that period that caused him the same emotions experienced by fans of both the Tampa Bay team and the NFL, but that he knew The GOAT’s competitive spirit kept hope alive that the quarterback would decide to return.
“You went through a lot of different emotions,” Glazer said. “So, the first stage, where you just kind of felt the finality of the whole thing. But then, as time goes on, you think about it and you realize that there’s a lot of emotion involved in a season and it’s painful at the end of the season. I know how I feel at the end of a season, so you think about it, and you know how competitive Tom Brady is, that there’s always a chance.
“Then he had time to reflect and think about things, and we’re just thrilled to have him back,” he added.

However, the Buccaneers and Manchester United Premier League owner denied that Brady told him of his decision to come out of retirement during his visit to Old Trafford, just a day before he announced his return to the NFL.
“It wasn’t there (at the match),” he said, “but we knew soon before everybody else,” Glazer said.
