American basketball player Brittney Griner, who has had a brilliant career in the sport of basketball, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for drug possession and smuggling by a Moscow court

Griner was detained at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport on February 17, 2022, although her arrest only became known on March 5, when cartridges containing cannabis oil for vaping were found in her luggage.

On August 4, she was found guilty and sentenced to 9 years in prison for drug possession and smuggling.

Selected number 1 in the 2013 WNBA draft
