The Brittney Griner trial continued in Russian Court on Wednesday with a few alarming events that will surely make the entire world put more attention into this case. As we all know, the WNBA star is currently trying to get out of this trouble in the least scandalous way possible, she already pleaded guilty over the charges against her. However, Wednesday gave us some surreal moments that make us think there is some foul play afoot.
For starters, Brittney Griner was asked a detailed line of questioning but there was one very evident problem. According to AP, the questions being translated in real time were only a fraction of the questions in Russian. Griner was reportedly paying attention to the questions but she wasn’t getting the entire message her lawyers were.

Another troubling detail is that Brittney Griner was reportedly asked to sign documents without any further explanation about anything. This was an order made by the officials but she wasn’t told what the documents were, nor was she told what would happen if she signed them. Griner offered her testimony and detailed everything that happened during the time she was detained. She revealed that the flight was 13 hours and she was just recovering from COVID-19 when she was traveling.
Griner repeated that she had no idea how the cannabis oil ended in her bag but she also repeated she had a doctor’s recommendation for it. When the detention occured, Griner said inspectors at the airport pulled her aside after they found the cartridges. To be fair, the interpreter made mistakes both with the line of questioning and with Brittney Griner’s testimony. However, it is still strange they don’t have someone who translated everything verbatum.
