The No. 4 Iowa women’s basketball team secured a heart-stopping victory against Michigan State with a buzzer-beater from their star player, Caitlin Clark.

The sold-out crowd at Carver-Hawkeye Arena witnessed a game that defied expectations, turning into a battle of grit and determination.

The game, which seemed headed for a tight finish, found its unlikely hero in Caitlin Clark.

Locked in a tough offensive struggle with Michigan State, Iowa needed an escape route, and Clark delivered.

With the scoreboard reading 73-73, Clark pulled off a remarkable logo three-pointer at the buzzer, sealing a 76-73 win for the Hawkeyes.

“Honestly, when it left my hand, I knew it was going in,” said Clark, showcasing the confidence that has become synonymous with her game.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams exchanging leads throughout the second half.

Clark’s game-winner capped off a night where she demonstrated her scoring prowess, finishing with an impressive 40 points.

Clark’s game against Michigan saw her going 14-of-34 shooting (8-of-20 from 3-point range), with five assists and just one rebound (she averages nearly seven per contest).

She also tied the record by any woman D-1 player over the last 25 seasons with her fourth straight 35+ point game.

Despite a challenging shooting night, Clark’s last-second heroics solidified her reputation as a clutch player.

“Those are situations we work on at the end of practice every single day,” said Clark, highlighting the meticulous preparation that contributed to her game-winning shot.

Caitlin Clark’s performance against Michigan State adds another chapter to her stellar season.

With improved shooting and scoring numbers, Clark is going far beyond the proficiency set by her 2022-23 Naismith National Player of the Year campaign.

Averaging 30.9 points per game, shooting 49.5% from the floor, and showcasing her triple-double threat capabilities, Clark continues to be a force to be reckoned with.

The Hawkeyes, now with a 14-1 record, will carry the momentum from this thrilling victory into their upcoming matchup against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
