Caleb Williams is a star quarterback for USC, and he just went viral for an opinion he expressed on social media in which he compared himself to Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes. And of course, it’s not something that went down well with most Chiefs fans.

Williams is one of the strong candidates for the Heisman Trophy, and what he said was that there is nothing Mahomes can do on the field that he can’t. This was well received by some, who applauded his confidence, but most saw it as disrespectful to the Chiefs’ No. 15.

Williams claims he can do the same as Mahomes

“It’s pretty cool, I would say, just because everybody sees Patrick and sees all the cool things he can do. I always said, even in high school, I don’t think there’s anything – obviously, he’s special, but I don’t think there’s anything I can’t do that he’s doing out there,” Williams said.

Following his comments, several Chiefs and fans criticized Williams on Twitter for his opinion, telling him he better prove it when he gets to the NFL. “Well, I bet Mahomes wouldn’t give an arrogant answer like that,” said one, while another pointed out; “Sell you out, but be humble?”.

Another compared him to Philadelphia’s Hurts. “Lol set the bar a little lower dude, like Jalen Hurts wasn’t a great prospect but he put in the work now look. Stay cool and let the work do the talking.”

Several supported his comments

There were also people who applauded his boldness. “I really didn’t think we would see another Mahomes type arm for at least a decade, but Caleb Williams is from that same tree,” one fan commented.

“I don’t know who saw Caleb Williams play this year and didn’t see Patrick Mahomes. Any other comparison is embarrassing,” shared a USC fan.

What is a fact is that when Williams gets to the NFL, he will have all eyes on him to fact check what he wrote.
