From the moment the third fight between Mexico’s Saul Canelo Alvarez and Kazakhstan’s Gennady Golovkin was confirmed, the fighter from Guadalajara began a series of comments and attacks against his opponent on September 17 in Las Vegas.

The boxer from Guadalajara spoke to Mexican television station TV Azteca, and pointed out that Golovkin’s appearance in front of the cameras is very different from what he is in real life, as he assured that GGG is not as accessible as when he gets in front of a television camera.

“Golovkin is a shitty person, a hypocrite. Ask people off-camera how he behaves, but when they turn on the camera he acts like a very nice person, respectful,” said Canelo.

“I don’t like two-faced people, if they say I’m a jerk that’s fine, but that’s who I am, I don’t pretend to be something else,” added Canelo.

The reason for Canelo’s hatred of Golovkin

This is not the first time that Canelo shows his little empathy for Golovkin, especially after the Kazakh called him a cheater when the Mexican tested positive for clenbuterol, after consuming a meat contaminated by the banned substance.

“He said I was dishonest, that I was a sham, that I was a cheater. He mentioned that my whole team was a disgrace to my country. Those are some of the things he said,” Alvarez noted.

Golovkin’s responses

And while Canelo doesn’t stop with his disqualifying attacks on GGG, the Asian keeps a lower profile, but doesn’t waste moments to hit, outside the ring, Canelo.

According to Golovkin, the fight on September 17 will be just another fight in his career, but he assured that winning that fight against Alvarez would be the ultimate achievement as a professional boxer.

Golovkin has compared Canelo to a dog, and assured that his rival’s attacks are a consequence of the consumption of performance-enhancing substances, in addition, he has constantly said that the judges harmed him in his second fight against the Jalisco native.
