The trilogy fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin is expected to be far more heated than previous encounters, especially with Alvarez taking on a much more aggressive approach in the pre-match media conferences.
The Mexican hit a nerve in Friday’s pre-fight press conference when he mocked the Kazakh fighter for the fight which had a rather controversial result.
Alvarez won the second meeting between the pair with a majority decision, yet many felt at the time that Golovkin got the better of the fight and deserved a win.
“He knows that he lost, but he will never admit it,” Alvarez declared at the pre-fight press conference.
The two fights between the pair were close and the result really could have gone either way both times, hence why there has been such a divide over the judging.
Many will be hoping that the third meeting will have a clear result to avoid any such controversy, although Canelo Alvarez is bouncing back from a defeat in his last bout.
For Golovkin, there is a sense that this fight may be his last, and it represents a chance to right what he perceives to be wrongs in the judging of previous battles.
