Former Real Madrid and AC Milan forward Antonio Cassano has suggested that Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is not special and even inferior to Julian Alvarez.

Haaland has bagged 10 goals in his first six Premier League games since he joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund, after his release clause was triggered in the summer.

Guardiola “didn’t have any doubts” over Haaland

Julian Alvarez also joined the club in the summer from River Plate, but he is a less proven striker and is being given less game time.

He has still impressed when on the pitch, though. He has scored twice in four appearances since the move and is still just 22 years old.

Haaland is going to score 90 goals, he’s very strong, he’s like a Romelu Lukaku, but stronger,” Cassano told Twitch channel Boba TV.

“Anyway, I think Julian Alvarez is better because he has more quality.

Haaland is not special. I see him a bit like Adriano at Inter and he has the progression of Christian Vieri.”

Adriano scored 77 goals in 180 games for Inter, Fiorentina and Parma, while Vieri scored 142 goals in 264 Serie A appearances for Torino, Atalanta, Juventus, Lazio, Inter, Milan and Fiorentina.
