The New Orleans Pelicans continue their path towards becoming a contending team in the NBA and now they’ve signed their star guard CJ McCollum to a two year and $64 million dollars contract extension, securing his playing rights till the end of the 2025-2026 NBA season.

McCollum will now play for the next four seasons with the Pelicans and in return he’ll get payed a whooping $133 million.

Securing a long term extension with McCollum was one of the New Oleans Pelicans this offseason, as they now have him alongside Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson as their franchise cornerstones, while they try to build a championship contending team around them.

The front office for the team values greatly McCollum’s leadership and on-court production, both of which were displayed as soon as he landed on the team following a trade from the Portland Trailblazers.

The guard proved his worth almost immediately and positively impacted the team’s play, leading them to the playoff play-in tournament.

ESPN recently reported that McCollum is one of just six players to have averaged over 20 points per game in the NBA for the last seven seasons.

CJ McCollum is joined in the prestigious list by Lebron James, Paul George, James Harden, Anthony Davis and DeMar DeRozan.
