Colin Kaepernick is doing everything in his power to make a return to the league. He will now be holding an exhibition throwing session in front of NFL scouts during halftime of the University of Michigan‘s spring football game Saturday.

Kaepernick will throw to draft-eligible players with NFL personnel in attendance to watch the event. The news comes as Kaepernick reportedly said he is open to taking a back-up quarterback role ‘if that’s what it takes‘ to play in the NFL again for the first time since 2016.

Kaepernick played for Michigan coach

Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 – when they drafted Kaepernick – until 2014. Kaepernick played with the Niners from 2011-2016, opting out of his contract after controversy over his kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality.

In 2019, Kaepernick settled with the NFL over a grievance he filed claiming the 32 teams colluded and refused to sign him due to his protests. Kaepernick will also be the honorary captain for Michigan’s Maize and Blue Spring Game.
