‘COMPLETE’ KALVIN PHILLIPS AND MIDFIELDER LEEDS ARE EYEING UP HAVE A COMMON FEATURE.

The Athletic stated that a deal has been reached between the two teams, and it appears that Leeds United will lose Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City this summer.

Fortunately for Leeds, Phil Hay has revealed that the Whites will be looking for a successor. Curiously, though, Leeds has recently been associated with Christian Eriksen.

You’re probably thinking that Eriksen and Kalvin Phillips have nothing in common. Given that Eriksen is your prototype creative number 10 and one is a destroying number six.

Though oddly, Eriksen’s performances in that position prompted comparisons to Andrea Pirlo during his time at Inter Milan, demonstrating that he could thrive in a deeper role in a 3-5-2.

Eriksen can play both wide and in a deeper position, making him a complete midfielder. He and Pirlo have a lot in common, thus he could also play in front of the defense, in my opinion. Carlo Ancelotti remarked of the midfielder, “He can see the passing lines and can shoot from distance too.

Not just Ancelotti has previously drawn comparisons between Eriksen and Pirlo. The parallels between the two were quickly seen by Antonio Cassano as well.

“We’re discussing a true champion. It’s not like he needed to be taught anything; all he needed was confidence. The former Italy star Cassano revealed that Conte has changed his opinion regarding Eriksen. “I now hope that he will leave Eriksen (to play) and give him the confidence,” Cassano remarked.

A journalist claims that Leeds are interested in a 30-year-old “magician” who is also wanted by Newcastle Arsenal and every Premier League club.
“I’m reminded of Pirlo at Juventus in this position. He wasn’t initially in Conte’s plans, but the board pressure forced him to give him another shot. Conte created the 3-5-2 system and amassed all available victories.

Given that Phillips has long been referred to as “The Yorkshire Pirlo” at Leeds United, the Pirlo connection is particularly intriguing. Eriksen is by no means a carbon copy of Phillips, but there is reason to think that he might take over at Leeds.

While it’s true that Eriksen lacks Phillips’ physicality, Marc Roca, who has apparently been bulking up over the previous two years, may fill that role.

Eriksen, who is among the best long passers in the game and is more attack-minded than Phillips but has the tactical acumen to adapt to any position, could absolutely take on the quarterback position at Leeds.

Roca and Eriksen might be a wonderful combo, mixing skill and physicality in the middle of the park, if Jesse Marsch opts to use his signature 4-2-2-2 next season.
