Cristiano Ronaldo will be aiming to use the 2022 Qatar World Cup as a chance to sway public opinion back in his favour and possibly convince other clubs to sign him.

His time at Manchester United appears to be at an end for a second time after his interview with Piers Morgan was released where he claimed to feel betrayed by the club as they are forcing him out.

He also said that he does not respect Erik ten Hag as the coach, something that surely means he will not be at the club beyond the January transfer window.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2022/23 season

So far, Cristiano has only three goals and two assists, very surprising numbers for the top scorer in the history of football.

Therefore, the World Cup is a good opportunity for the Portuguese to recover his level and have a great tournament that will open the doors to a new team during the next transfer market.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s role with Portugal

It was his former Portugal teammate, Pedro Mendes, who gave the latest comments on the Ladbroke Fanzone podcast about how Cristiano fits in in the team.

“You can’t have someone like him in your team as a bench player,” he said.

“Sometimes it’s quite difficult for a normal player to sit on the bench.

“The worst thing you can do for any player is to make him warm up the whole game only to have him come in at the end for five minutes, it’s embarrassing.”

With Portugal, the No.7 remains a starter and should lead his team in Qatar, even if he also has some critics when it comes to the national team.
