Following Erik ten Hag‘s appointment as Manchester United coach, Cristiano Ronaldo has given the club a piece of advice in that the Dutchman will need time at Old Trafford if he is to reverse the slide.

United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier in the season and appointed Ralf Ragnick as an intern boss, while they searched for the Norwegian’s successor.

In that time the club have produced a myriad of poor performances and will not participate in next season’s Champions League, and may have to make do with the Europa Conference League next season.

“I know that he [ten Hag] has done a fantastic job at Ajax, and that he is an experienced coach, but we have to give him time,” Ronaldo told Manchester United’s official website.

“Things must change the way he wants. If you do well, all of Manchester United will succeed, so I wish you all the best.

“We are all happy and excited [with the arrival], not only as players, but as fans as well. We have to believe that next year we can win titles.”

Another impressive campaign

Ronaldo for his part has been in excellent for over the course of the 2021/22 season, with the 37-year-old reached 30 goals for club and country once again in Manchester United‘s 3-0 triumph over Brentford.

So far, Ronaldo has bagged 24 goals for his club this season with 18 coming in the Premier League, and another six for Portugal.

Despite that, there is still speculation about his future at Old Trafford and wether or not he will leave the club in the summer.
